.@ELEAGUETV will broadcast a three-part episodic series for the @E3 #SmashBrosUltimate Invitational on TBS!

This Friday, ELEAGUE will broadcast the first of a three-part episodic series that covers the events of the Smash Ultimate E3 Invitational that took place in June 2018!

For those who’d previously tuned in to the Nintendo Direct that showcased the invitational this past June, they will be treated to an entirely new angle on the event via ELEAGUE’s special program. Instead of simply re-living the matches that lit the fuse for Smash Ultimate, viewers will delve into the minds of the players that either took part in the invitational or were given VIP access at E3 to enjoy the game in its early stages.

The series will air at 11 P.M. Eastern Time on TBS every Friday, for three consecutive weeks.

Appearances on nationwide television have been scarce for the Super Smash Bros community until the Evolution 2017 finals for Smash Wii-U, which were broadcast via Disney XD last year. This program by ELEAGUE supposedly marks the second occasion where a spotlight will be shone on the Smash community, as everyone prepares to welcome Smash Ultimate this holiday season.

For a quick recap, the eight players that took part in the invitational and will therefore appear in ELEAGUE’s series are as follows:

  • Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios

  • Adam “Armada” Lindgren

  • Joey “Lucky” Aldama

  • Joseph “Mang0” Marquez

  • Justin “Plup” McGrath

  • Yuta “Abadango” Kawamura

  • Leonardo “MKLeo” Lopez Perez

  • Ramin “Mr. R” Delshad

Viewers will glimpse interviews featuring each of the above eight throughout the series, as well as snippets of their tournament matches. In addition, the passion of the Smash community as a whole will be captured via interviews with fans who’d previously attended E3.

This is far from ELEAGUE’s first excursion into the one-versus-one corner of esports. They have previously broadcast the group playoffs and finals for a pair of Street Fighter V invitationals, a team-based Tekken 7 event, and the Injustice 2 World Championships, and each program has proven more phenomenal than the last. All events have attracted noteworthy levels of viewership via both social media and TBS, and with an audience as humongous as the one for Smash Bros, this upcoming episodic series may mark their biggest stride yet.

Smash Ultimate itself will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on December 7, 2018. You can visit www.smashbros.com now to pre-order your copy and to gain a download code for a bonus character, Piranha Plant.
