PUBG Corp announces their first esports event: The #PUBG Global Invitational!
Last night, the developers of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds announced the first event to be sponsored solely by themselves - the PUBG Global Invitational!
Up to twenty teams will qualify from around the entire globe to face off for a staggering two million dollars in USA currency and bragging rights. The finale of the Global Invitational will occur in Berlin, Germany on July 25-29.
Qualifying events will be hosted in up to ten separate regions, and a number of teams will qualify from each region. Details on scheduling were not covered, aside from the fact that all of these brackets will occur throughout July.
The following numbers of teams will qualify for the PUBG Global Invitational from each of these regions:
- three teams from North America
- three teams from Europe
- three teams from Asia (this category does not include China, Japan and Korea)
- two teams from CIS
- two teams from Republic of Korea
- two teams from People's Republic of China
- two teams from Japan
- one team from South America/Latin America
- one team from Oceania
- one team from Middle East/North Africa
More details regarding the Invitational are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
