Special #DOA5LR Event at @EVO : "Dead or Alive EVO Showdown 2018"

Today, another side tournament is confirmed for Evolution 2018, and this one features the unexpected return of a title for which developer support was discontinued at the end of last year: the Dead or Alive 5 series!

After over ten years of absence from Evolution, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round will be coming to the Mandalay Bay on August 3-5, 2018. Registration has yet to be made available, but that should change within the coming months, perhaps weeks.

The announcement can be found here.

The following is a statement released by Yosuke Hayashi and Yohei Shimbori, the producer and director of the Dead or Alive 5 series:

“To the DOA fans and fighting game fans, thanks to you all we are proudly announcing that DEAD OR ALIVE 5 Last Round will take part in the world's largest fighting game festival EVO.

5 years have passed since the DOA5 series started and it's been played by more than 10 million gamers. Meanwhile, the DOA community has expanded to become larger than ever before.

To proceed to the next stage, we announced the end of the DOA5 series in December, but to my surprise the god of fighting games has given us another chance to let players enjoy this franchise at an event once more.

Though it's a side tournament, the fact that DOA is joining EVO itself is key, and something which we have been longing for over 10 years.

So, I hope you will join and enjoy the show!”

DOA5 series

The Dead or Alive 5 series initially began in 2012 as the franchise's first entry on the Playstation 3, and it was also made available for Xbox 360 users. Content updates and re-releases on updated consoles were performed over the years, up till 2015, when the final version of the game was released on Playstation 4, Xbox One and Steam (PC). By mid-2015, the entire DOA5 series was purchased over five million times in total, with 70% of sales coming via digital downloads.

To celebrate its first appearance at the annual fighting game championships in Vegas, EVO will feature a special side tournament focusing exclusively on the game. We will update you when registration becomes available, but in the meantime, consider registering and grabbing your ticket for an arena seat on finals day, if you haven't already. Visit evo.shoryuken.com/registration to do so!

If you wish to try out Dead or Alive 5 Last Round for yourself, the game is available as a digital download. Visit this page for details.
