The #NintendoSwitch goes ONLINE in September 2018!

A paid online service for Nintendo Switch owners is scheduled to launch this September with a variety of features!

As the name suggests, Nintendo Switch Online opens the gateway to network play for an expanding lineup of Nintendo titles including Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 and more! Titles from the original NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) will become accessible as well, and here's where it gets interesting: these titles will receive new options for online play!

When Nintendo Switch Online launches, up to twenty titles for the NES will be immediately accessible. See below for a look at the first half of that lineup. More will be announced as we count down to the service's launch this September.

- Soccer
- Tennis
- Balloon Fight
- Ice Climber
- Donkey Kong
- Dr. Mario
- Mario Bros.
- The Legend of Zelda
- Super Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros. 3

Also included with the new service is an option called Save Data Cloud Backup, which allows you to back up your online data for easy access. Further details regarding this option will be available shortly before Nintendo Switch Online launches this year.

Finally, mobile users can enjoy the new Nintendo Switch Online application. This allows you to play your Switch games online using your phone. You can send invites via the app's Online Lounge, engage with your friends via the social network while playing online, and enjoy other options depending on the title you are playing.

The app is available for download at the following links:

- Google Play
- iTunes.Apple.com

Purchase plans for Nintendo Switch Online are looking to be a welcome sight right now. A one-month plan costs only $3.99 USD, a three-month plan costs $7.99 USD and a twelve-month plan is priced at - get ready for this - only $19.99 USD! You can also purchase a Family Membership for $34.99 USD per year.

Each account holder can purchase only one plan. With the Family Membership, however, the owner of an account can invite up to seven others to participate in a group, and all of that group will have access to Nintendo Switch Online!

When the service goes live, you'll be able to make your purchases via the Nintendo eShop on your console, as well as www.nintendo.com and select retailers.

For now, non-subscribers will still be able to enjoy the online gameplay services for free, until the paid service launches this September. Other than that, non-subscribers can still manage friend lists, use the Nintendo eShop, receive system/software updates and share screenshots with friends on social media networks.
