Competitors for #E32018 #SmashBros Invitational announced!

Today, the competitors for the Smash Bros Invitational at E3 2018 were unveiled!

The Invitational will take place right after the Splatoon 2 World Championship finals on June 12th. It will showcase gameplay for the all-new Smash title coming to the Nintendo Switch this year (exact release date has yet to be specified). Additionally, we'll get an inside look at a roster of titles slated for release on the Switch in the near future.

In addition to the eight players listed above, the Invitational will feature live exhibitions with other invited guests!

When you bring together eight Smash Bros legends from six different countries, the result is surely a recipe for unmatched excitement! It remains unclear as to exactly what format the Invitational will follow, such as whether it's a race to a number of wins or a different win condition is involved.

It's far from the first time we have seen an invitational event showcasing a new entry in the Super Smash Bros franchise, which has existed since the late 1990s. A similar event was set up to showcase Smash 4 on the Wii-U back in 2014, and high-profile competitors such as Juan "HungryBox" Diedma and Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios made a trip to that event to welcome the next chapter in the Smash series.

E3 itself takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 12-14.  Once per year, gamers everywhere will get to interact with the companies responsible for bringing them their best memories in gaming!
