Method @SylverRye wins #WarOfTheGods S3 Week 5!

The Week 2 Champion of War Season 3, Method SylverRye, has once again added a resounding victory to his resume! This means that he now shares in Semiij's status as one of the two-time winners in the season thus far.

Rye's Batman returned from the shadows to take on Emperor Kombat's Firestorm. Having taken inspiration from CLN Nubcakes, who'd recently taken the IPS Online West bracket last Sunday, Rye drastically revised his gameplay with Batman. In spite of Kombat taking a 2-1 lead in the set, Rye stood by his decision. His mental fortitude and ability to adapt would generate an incredible reward, as he reversed the tides well enough to take the next two games and win the set 3-2.

Nubcakes himself took on PG Hayatei in a traditional clash between the father and son (as far as their characters are concerned). In stark contrast to the other side of Winner's, Nubcakes had no answer to offer to Hayatei's variation of a steel wall. With a convincing 3-0 victory under his belt, Hayatei met with Rye in Winner's Finals.

In a surprise twist, Rye chose neither his Batman nor Hellboy to take on Hayatei, but instead, he introduced a new addition to his lineup: Atrocitus. The surprised Canadian Robin found himself unable to hold any kind of ground, as Rye's new character possessed the ability to pose a threat from anywhere on the screen. Rye took full advantage of Hayatei's vulnerability, and he was rewarded with a strong 3-0 victory for his efforts.

In the lower bracket, KNICKS ended Grr's dreams of adding to his win streak in War of the Gods, whilst Noble Rewind's solo Catwoman ended Hero Killer Stain's run through the bracket. A team kill between KNICKS and Emperor Kombat followed shortly afterward, with the winning blow being dealt by KNICKS. Rewind, after failing to discourage Nubcakes in the Batman mirror, decided to take a page from Rye's book by re-introducing his Atrocitus, a decision that paid off in dividends for him.

With only the Top 4 remaining, KNICKS and Rewind squared off in Loser's Semis. Both instantly abandoned their trademark characters in favor of new faces: Rewind's Blue Beetle and KNICKS's Black Manta. What followed was a one-sided set that resulted in the Noble representative's victory. A similar outcome occurred in Loser's Finals, except that Rewind found himself on the wrong end of a 3-0 against PG Hayatei. As such, Rewind's run ended with a Top 3 finish in War Week 5.

With the lower bracket at an end, Hayatei sought redemption as he faced down Method SylverRye in what would have been the first of two Grand Finals sets. Once again, however, Hayatei found himself confronting a new threat, which was Rye's Hellboy in this case. Faced with the threat of Hellboy's leaping capabilities, Hayatei found himself fighting to gain some sort of mid-range control against Method's champion. A spark of hope shone for him when he tied up the set 1-1, yet an unfazed Rye shook off the loss and proceeded to close out Grand Finals with a 3-1 victory.
