Noble @RewindFGC wins #WarOfTheGods S3 Week 7!

With the conclusion of Week 7, we are proud to crown not only the Week 7 winner but also the fourth player to have taken a weekly bracket in Season 3!

In keeping with an unspoken tradition for War of the Gods, Winner's Bracket kicked off with a team kill between Semiij (who'd won the previous week) and Rewind. Rewind dealt the first blow to Semiij's streak by knocking him into Loser's after a clean 3-0. Following that, RLN TitaniumTigerzz achieved a similar feat against Buffalo, a returning finalist from the previous two seasons of the circuit.

Down in the lower bracket, Method SylverRye added another 3-0 needle to the haystack by eliminating CLN Nubcakes from the bracket. Deoxys, who quickly went up two games against Noble Tweedy, was on the verge of continuing the streak of one-sided wins, when Tweedy suddenly shattered the balance of power. While he was pushed to the brink of defeat multiple times, his steely composure enabled him to widen the gaping holes in Deoxys's offense and slide a comeback right through them. His rebuilding consistency led him to complete a reverse 3-0 against Deoxys, eliminating the proud Blue Beetle champion from Week 7.

Winner's Finals followed a similar course of action as MCG TitaniumTigerzz flayed Rewind with a barrage of divekicks that proved incredibly difficult to punish. After two faulty character decisions, the pressure was on Rewind to bring it back, and his Firestorm was on the road to doing exactly that. Sadly the adjustment came too late, as Tigerzz regained himself enough to nullify Rewind's efforts in a mind-numbing Game 5, closing out the set 3-2 in his favor.

A conflict between War of the Gods champions unfolded between Semiij and SylverRye in Loser's Bracket. With the former boasting three bracket wins and Rye sporting two wins, Semiij appeared to hold a distinct advantage. But Rye proceeded to demonstrate that statistics do not always guarantee anything, as evidenced by their back-and-forth exchange of matches. The stalemate finally broke in Game 5, and Rye emerged victorious while Semiij's win streak was put on hold yet again.

In spite of Semiij's elimination, Tweedy and Rewind would continue to keep the Noble dream alive in Week 7. After dealing a second 3-0 blow to Buffalo's conscience, Tweedy stepped forward to face Rye in Loser's Semis. What followed was a battle with the tension climbing out of control as the two patiently scouted out opportunities to demolish the other. In a climactic Game 5 to the set, the life lead kept switching between the two players, until both were reduced to a mere sliver. Panicking, Rye sought one last cross-up via Hellboy's leap, only to be met with an instant jump-2 from Tweedy that ended the Method champion's bracket life.

Once again, a team kill would follow in Loser's Finals between Rewind and Tweedy. Although it was Superman that guaranteed Tweedy's salvation against Rye, he switched back to Starfire to take on Rewind's Blue Beetle. When the first game slipped away from Rewind, he made an immediate switch to Catwoman to gain the threat of the Cat Dash against Starfire's zoning. The choice paid in dividends, resulting in a three-game streak that guided Rewind back into Grand Finals for a runback with TitaniumTigerzz.

As the two prepared to face off, the temperature suddenly rose to volcanic levels, thanks largely to the return of Rewind's Firestorm. It appeared momentarily that Grand Finals would follow a course similar to Winner's Finals when the first game ended in Tigerzz's favor, but that would be his only triumph this time around. For six games straight, Rewind played in an explosive manner that would make Emperor Kombat proud, putting a stop to everything Tigerzz attempted. Panic began to settle in, driving Tigerzz to switch between multiple characters: Green Arrow, Scarecrow and even The Joker.

Unfortunately for him, none of those switches jarred Rewind's momentum whatsoever. As the heat wave finally dissipated, Noble Rewind stood victorious as our Week 7 winner!
