Team @HAZARDOUS_GG welcomes @MK_ForeverKing to their lineup
On Day 1 of the Evolution 2018 Championships in Las Vegas last weekend, a renowned legend in the Netherrealm Studios community was signed by Hazardous, who have been amassing a stacked lineup for Injustice 2 as of late.
That legend is known as the Dark Knight himself - Christian "Forever King" Quiles!
From the birth of the NRS community to its current incarnation, Forever King has harvested an endless collection of results for himself throughout every NRS title since Mortal Kombat 9. His monstrous skill level guided him to the Top 8 finals for Mortal Kombat 9 at EVO 2012 and EVO 2013, where he finished in 5th and 4th place, respectively.
His domination continued in NRS's first venture into a fighting game based on the DC Universe, which was called Injustice: Gods Among Us. There was a notable number of Batman players representing their scenes proudly, but Forever King's stood out from all of them as the most well-rounded and consistent. That very same Batman gave him the victory over GGA Max's Bane in the first Injustice Grand Finals at Kumite in Tennessee, which took place in January 2014. Following that, King appeared in a growing number of Top 8 brackets using an armada of top-tier characters alongside his Batman.
So heavy was the impact he left on NRS games that he was directly invited by ESL and Warner Bros to participate in the Fatal 8, an invitational that would showcase high-level gameplay for Mortal Kombat X before it released. Since the Fatal 8, Forever King quickly became one of the pioneers for Bojutsu Kung Jin, but it would be a short-lived achievement cut short by nerfs to the character.
Regardless, King continued a trend he'd developed in Injustice 1, creating a well-built roster that would make him a formidable adversary against countless opponents. It wasn't long before King was summoned to Atlanta by Giancarlo "Reno Racks" Moreno to represent an organization called Yomi Gaming, which would house a collection of top-tier NRS players. Not a second went by without the Yomi team grinding Mortal Kombat X, and their monstrous training regimen led them to hog the Grand Finals for a large number of events throughout 2015 and 2016.
Throughout his time as a player for Yomi Gaming, King's gameplay communicated a powerful message to the MKX community: "For the Shokan!"
But perhaps King's greatest achievement of all would take place upon the release of Injustice 2 in May 2017. Similar to when he competed in the game's prequel, King built a roster of strong characters to improvise for just about any match-up, but eventually he regressed back to the ways of the character loyalist so as to concentrate all of his effort onto his trademark Batman.
With consistent appearances in the Top 4, King, who would later be signed by Circa eSports, eventually qualified for the Season 1 Finals of the Injustice 2 Pro Series, a feat that brought him to Los Angeles where he would do battle against fifteen other powerful competitors. Unfortunately he was one of the first to be eliminated, but the Dark Knight would not be broken that night. In an effort to redeem himself, he ventured back to Atlanta to participate in a last chance qualifier for the ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championship. After swimming through a shark-infested pool of powerful players, he succeeded in snagging one of the two remaining spots in the ELEAGUE bracket (the other went to PXP A F0xy Grampa).
The ELEAGUE World Championship began afterward near the end of November, and King came in practically swinging his armored gauntlets. After defeating BC HoneyBee and double-eliminating Echo Fox SonicFox, a feat that rarely if ever occurred, the mighty monarch climbed his way to the Top 4 playoffs at the ELEAGUE Championship. Unfortunately, thanks in part to Tekken Master and A F0xy Grampa, his stay there was short-lived, but his accomplishments inside and outside of ELEAGUE would forever impact the audience.
The King has walked through Hell and back to ascend to heights that very few players have been able to reach since the beginning of their competitive careers. His footsteps leave a powerful history in their wake, and it is a legacy that King will continue to build upon as he begins his new chapter with HAZARDOUS.
