Reveal Trailer for Raphael from #SOULCALIBURVI

Raphael, a swordsman whose skill is as notorious as his contemptuous persona, has been revealed as the next returning cast member for Soul Calibur VI.

Debuting in Soul Calibur II, Raphael bears the appearance of a young French noble, but he would take on an entirely different form throughout the follow-up titles barring Soul Calibur V, in which he does not appear to have aged a day.

That trend appears to have carried over to the latest installment in the series, which is due for release on October 19th. His vampiric abilities are absent from his reveal trailer above, but his armada of fast-hitting attacks make him a dangerous foe. That said, his thrusting attacks can be easily side-stepped, and though his horizontal and kick attacks are incredibly fast, they don’t carry as much utility in terms of range.

A master of fencing, Raphael’s gameplay is brimming with effective mind games that, when mastered, can yield many possibilities, such as running out the clock if played defensively.

His reveal brings the roster of confirmed characters up to 21, with only one among them being a DLC character (Tira). Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher will also make an appearance as a guest character, as will two newcomers - Azwel and Grøh.

As today is September 19th, a thirty-day countdown to the release of Soul Calibur VI has begun. Join us for when it releases on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam (PC) platforms on October 19, 2018!
